Who We Are
The Hairy Hikers are a charity hiking group founded by a group of hairy and not so hairy people who enjoy walking and hiking,
we like to get out on the hills whenever we can. Our motto is "You don't have to be hairy,
but it helps". Biennially (every other year) we meet up to take on a hiking challenge for
a chosen charity.
We all live in the West Yorkshire area in the North of England and come from various walks of life.
We consider ourselves normal everyday people and we all have to work for a living. Our ages range from late twenties to late forties.
Among us we have a web developer, magazine editor, window cleaner, scientist, transport services planner, technician, scout leader
teacher and charity fundraising manager. Some of us have children, some of us don’t.
As well as sharing a love of the great outdoors we all like to help others when we can, be it
family, friends or complete strangers. Taking part in a Hairy Hikers challenge allows us to get out on the hills
and do what we enjoy while raising money to help people less fortunate than ourselves.
You never know, one day we may need the help of a charity ourselves.
